Major expansion of service station network in Uganda

17 September 2024

Oryx Energies Uganda Limited is consolidating its continuous expansion in Uganda through the acquisition of seven sites previously operated under the BAJ Service Station brand.

The acquisition will increase the company’s retail network in Uganda, bringing it closer to its customers in the locations of Entebbe, Kyanja, Bweyale, Mubende, Kisoro and Kabale (Kabale – Katuna Road and Kabale Rwakaraba). These sites will be rebranded as Oryx service stations and will deliver the full range of products and services offered by the company’s existing network in the country.

Michael Nduhuukire Managing Director Oryx Energies Uganda Limited, comments: "This is an important milestone for Oryx Energies, significantly enlarging our footprint and enabling us to deliver on our brand promise to many more consumers across Uganda. We are excited at this development, which underlines our strong commitment to the Ugandan market and forms part of a yet wider strategic expansion slated to occur in the coming two years."

Oryx Energies has been present in Uganda since November 2012, when it acquired Engen Uganda Ltd. as part of the planned expansion of its integrated downstream energy platform across sub-Saharan Africa.

The company provides fuels, LPG and lubricants to businesses and consumers across Uganda, both directly through its service stations and specialised sales force, and indirectly via a network of bulk and retail distributors.

Oryx Energies Uganda Limited ensures reliability of supply through its own proprietary infrastructure in the country as well as via its sister companies in Kenya and Tanzania, benefiting in particular from major fuel and LPG storage terminals in both countries and from a wholly-owned lubricants blending plant in Tanzania.
