Oryx Energies receives Business Initiative Award from Port of Las Palmas
29 April 2013
Oryx Energies is honoured to have been awarded the annual Business Initiative Award from the Port of Las Palmas Foundation, in recognition of its investment in a state-of-the-art oil and gas terminal in the port.
Oryx Energies’ local affiliate received the award from the President of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, Mr Luis Ibarra, at the Royal Nautical Club of Gran Canaria. Mr Ibarra emphasized the importance of Oryx Energies’ investment and underlined that the ultramodern storage facilities will make the port one of the best bases for bunkering services on the Atlantic.
The port is strategically placed on the main commercial route between Europe, West Africa and the Americas. Started in 2011, Oryx Energies’ facility is due for completion towards the end of 2013 and will almost double the port’s storage capacity.
Oryx Energies’ terminal complies with Europe’s strictest health, safety and environmental regulations, and is designed to offer maximum flexibility, speed of loading/discharging and access to a long, deep-water jetty.
Operations will benefit from Oryx Energies’ integrated model, offering bunkering products and services to shipping operators; product sourcing and professional storage for Oryx Energies and third parties; and distribution capabilities to countries across West Africa via its network of affiliates. In addition, the marine lubricants provided by the facility will be supplied in part by Oryx Energies’ modern lubricants blending factory in Togo.
The Port of Las Palmas Foundation attributes its Business Initiative Award each year to companies that make a significant contribution to the success and development of the port.
