2 June 2014

We are pleased to announce that Oryx Energies has been designated one of the 5 best companies in Burkina Faso for 2013, as part of the 9th edition of the Burkina Entrepreneurship Days (Journées de l’Entrepreneuriat Burkinabé).

The official ceremony took place on May 23 in the capital, Ouagadougou, where the award was presented to Simon Pemont, Managing Director of Oryx Energies in Burkina Faso, by Mr. Patiendé Arthur Kafondo, Minister of Industry and Commerce, on behalf of the Government. Those present included the Chief of the Office of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Energy and Mines, the Minister of the Environment and Sustainable Development, and the local representative of the World Bank.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce declared: "This award marks the recognition of the State of Burkina Faso for your outstanding contribution to the country's socio-economic development and represents an invitation to pursue and reinforce public-private partnerships."

"This is a proud moment for all the employees of Oryx Energies in Burkina Faso,” said Oryx Energies' Managing Director. “It is our employees who have earned this mark of recognition. I extend my warm thanks to each of them for their ongoing commitment and look forward to continuing to ensure that Oryx Energies remains one of the top companies in the country,” he added.

The award is attributed annually during the Entrepreneurship Days with the aim of promoting interaction between investors and the private sector to drive the country’s economic growth. It is based on three main criteria:

  • Tax compliance (respecting tax and customs obligations, and relations with the Treasury)
  • Corporate social responsibility (respecting social obligations, corporate citizenship)
  • Contribution to and impact on the socio-economic development of Burkina Faso (investments, quality of service, respect of environmental regulations).
