Oryx Energies has been present in Uganda since November 2012, when it acquired Engen Uganda Ltd, as part of the planned expansion of its integrated downstream energy platform across sub-Saharan Africa.

The acquisition included 10 service stations, mainly situated in and around the capital, Kampala. We have since introduced Oryx Gas and Oryx Lubricants into the Ugandan market, and continued to invest with the completion of a mini fuel storage depot and an LPG filling plant in August 2015, to ensure a solid base from which to reliably serve consumers in the country.

Today, we provide fuels, LPG and lubricants to businesses and consumers across Uganda, both directly through our service stations and our specialised sales force, and a network of bulk and retail distributors.

We ensure a reliable supply of products thanks to the development of our own infrastructure in the country, and our sister companies in Kenya and Tanzania, including strong storage facilities in Kenya, and a major storage terminal and a wholly-owned lubricants blending plant in Tanzania.

Fuel distribution: Oryx Energies supplies fuels and lubricants to a range of commercial and industrial clients in Uganda. We completed a mini fuel storage depot in Kampala in August 2015, in order to ensure a greater control of our local supply and logistics operations, as we move to expand our network of service stations and supply more fuels to business clients in the country.

LPG: We introduced Oryx Energies LPG cylinders into Uganda in 2013 and completed an LPG filling plant in Kampala in August 2015, in order to ensure greater control of our local supply and logistics operations. We distribute through our network of service stations, as well as over 100 points of sale and retailers across the country.

The investments confirm our ambition to invest significantly in LPG in Uganda, in response to the need for an affordable, healthy and environmentally-friendly energy alternative, especially in rural areas. This reflects the company’s strategy of promoting LPG as a modern replacement for firewood, charcoal and kerosene across sub-Saharan Africa.

Lubricants: We introduced a wide range of Oryx Energies lubricants into Uganda in 2013, taking advantage of the proximity of the company’s blending plant in nearby Tanzania. Our lubricants are distributed through our service stations and a network of approved distributors, and supplied to industrial clients in the country.

Retail network: Oryx Energies has a retail network of service stations in Uganda, mainly in and near the capital, Kampala. They offer fuels, LPG and Oryx Energies’ range of lubricants.
